MOUNTAIN BIKING: Divide Road

← MT MADISON RIVER WEST YELLOWSTONE Single Tracks →

Description

Divide Road criss-crosses the Continental Divide between Montana and Idaho. I have ridden it three times and didn't see a soul each time. I saw lots of deer and elk. There are bears around, but I didn't see any. Beautiful views of Centennial Mtns, Henry's Lake, Tetons, etc. The road is double-track dirt with a few pebbly sections. There are a few decent climbs to get the heart going. I have ridden this road out and back; however, you could ride to Red Rock Pass Rd. (abt 7 miles), go left, hit Henry's Lake Rd., and take that back to Raynolds Pass. The first part of the road from Hwy. 87 climbs gradually for about 2 miles, so be prepared for that. Lots of aspen groves to ride through. The entire road hovers around 7,000 feet, making for a nice workout with gorgeous scenery.

Directions

Park at Raynold Pass on the Montana/Idaho border on Highway 87. Ride south down the Idaho side until you see a road going right. There is a sign that reads "Divide Road."
